Building a reseller website

It may be true that the inetrnet is full of websites that teach you how to build websites, but this is not the point, the truth of the matter is that we want our resellers focusing on the content rather than focusing on HTML and CSS, we don't want to waste much time learining how to use the tools we have either, We want the reseller to have to learn only enough to add pages to the website, and then focus on content that can drive traffic.

So, what we did was make a small application (We would like to call it STA for Simple Active Templating Application), the reason for the name is not to call it SATA, But it is really what we aim for, We want it as simple as possible, Active so that it can change themes for all pages on the fly by editing one file, and Templating Application is really what it is.

This little program was started on 20th october 2009 when we realised that one of our resellers had the potential of being a very successfull reseller but was not very familiar with HTML, Dreamweaver, or FrontPage.

So once this application is uploaded to a webstite, the user (Reseller) can simply upload design free html pages and the application will add the design around the content automatically after uploading them, If the user downloads a file after uploading it, it would still have no themes attached, and what is different about this application is that it does not requier any changes to the HTML pages, just write your content, Link the pages together and upload, the theme app will do the rest.

So on this page, we will not get into installing SATA on your Linux hosting account (Unfortunatly it does not work with Windows because MOD_REWRITE works best under Linux)

What we will need

1- A website with SATA properly installed. If not contact us to set it up for you free.
2- A WYSIWYG editor such as Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver (For authoring content, not designing websites)
3- an FTP client such as FileZilla

This tutorial is made of 2 parts, Making a design free website, and Uploading your website, Only the essentials are covered, surely one can learn more on the WYSIWYG editor of choice, but this should mostly be what a reseller needs to start a reseller website that is search engine friendly.

So to continue with this tutorial, Please select the WYSIWYG edior that you use, either FrontPage or DreamWeaver, if you are using any other WYSIWYG editor, you should be able to understand the concept by looking at the DreamWeaver section and adapting it to your software.
